If Not Us - Who?

The world has simply changed….Our nation has changed…Most of the changes were small, came about over time, and went unnoticed. The ones that were noticed seemed unimportant but finally all these seeming small add on taxes, small unimportant regulations, small increases in government departments, along with social programs for this or that group, began to sum together…..The adage of, "The Devil lies in the details" has never come about in such a clear, forceful, or dramatic way as we now find our selves, our government at the national, state and city/town levels...

It was all there for the seeing but enough of us didn't see it.

The day of reckoning is here…The Rubicon has been crossed….The first shock will be the smaller cities, then larger ones, then counties, then states, and finally the nation itself if enough of the voters don't rise up.

Central Falls, Rhode Island, (population 18,928) is asking police and firefighter retirees to give up 50% of their pension.

They are doing so to try to avoid bankruptcy.

On Tuesday, a state-appointed receiver, Judge Robert Flanders, met with constituents to discuss options that will prevent the city from filing for bankruptcy, but the choices seemed limited: either volunteer for the pension cut, or risk losing it all.

Each of the 141 city retirees will receive a voting ballot and a packet by the end of the week, showing how much of their pensions will be slashed if they agree to volunteer for the benefits cut.

With August set as the deadline for further decisions on the financial future of the city, Flanders hopes to find out residents' decisions by the end of the month.

Though the measures seem drastic, residents are being told that it's a far better choice than "being at the mercy of the bankruptcy court."

A bankruptcy Judge could, or might have to void all pensions for the 141 retired as well as the ones still working. Holders of their municipal bonds would suffer a loss unless the state agreed to pay them off. There are many other consequences for this little city should it bankrupt.

This is the first city I know of that has taken this first step…..I have read that many of the smaller town around Detroit are near insolvency and I am sure there are hundreds of other towns across the country in the same boat. The job losses in the towns are growing and most town and cities are not hiring in an effort to cut cost.

How many of us in Mississippi know the financial conditions of our smaller towns are in? Or our larger towns for that matter?

All pension fund payments as well as bond debt is always left to future generations, our children, our grandchildren, for the most to pay and that’s just the reality of these long term debts….

“You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.”— Ayn Rand

You have to feel bad for the folks in Central Falls …. But it is just the first snowball to start down the hill….

Now what?…Our elected employees have made really bad decisions in their effort to craft laws….Who must, once again, pick up the tab, and clean up their mess….? The more important question might be, who are the only ones with the power to clean up the mess? If its not us I don't know who... If we don't do it now, I don't know when…but for sure, we are the only ones with the power to do the job.

We don't make mouse traps and we don't sew clothing nor are there any businesses left that might be though of as small mundane business….All these lower skill jobs, lower manufacturing businesses, are gone and these were the core businesses that created jobs for our poorer educated and often challenged citizens. This work is still being done but not here…and the reasons that jobs are done elsewhere are simply the cost of doing business in America is too high and struggling with unions and state/federal regulations are to difficult, along with the highest business tax in the world.(If there is a upside in any of this, it’s the fact we can still buy mouse traps and sewn shirts along with a whole bunch of other things we need at affordable prices.)

Who remembers when the idea of 'made in America' was the icon and important to us as well as the rest of the world?

These, and I can only assume, well meaning legislators have simply destroyed the lower end manufacturing jobs in America and as a consequence effectively put fifty million people out of work. AND they will not stop. (California alone came out with two hundred pages of yet newer regulations this year for people and businesses to adhere to….while wondering all the while why businesses are leaving the state.)

The new model of leadership now lies with the people. This leadership rises as ideas are spread, understood, and groups of citizens come together to solve the problems with our government and the people in it. No sleight of hand just common sense…Good change come about through common sense...The Tea Party is the common sense of the people...

Government, the men and women in government do not and cannot solve any of these national problems. For the most part they are the problem. It is we spreading the common sense of the Tea Party demanding that we be governed only by a government of and by the people. Elected people are simply elected officials, short term hires, but we are the nation. Through common sense we are the ones that will decide what is right for this nation.

The mark of America and its history is change….This, once again, is our moment in time. There was a dedicated group before us that faced similar problems. Because of their leadership we know what is needed, what the goals are, as well as what to do to get there.

We elected a good bunch of congressmen to office during the 2010 election and can do it again in 2012. We don't need to send many more new leaders to Washington to have control of both houses. When done the country will look, feel, and be a different place. One that is more familiar, stable, and safe.

We must look closely at the voting record of each of the older members of congress and must reevaluate each. If they tell us they are conservative and vote for liberal agendas such as raising taxes, more social programs, involving government in our businesses, and more regulations in our personal and business lives, they are not conservative. We will look at what they have done and not trust for one moment what they say. Distrust is where we start….(The pudding must be proofed.)

2012 will feel like a war. A war of ideas and values. Both national political parties will be fighting for their very existence. Office holders will be fighting for their political lives. We, poor citizens, will be fighting for the country. Another difference is that through our connected groups WE CAN WIN. Connected through our values, beliefs, and ideals we can change the country and the direction it is moving in. Our problems are solvable. We can restore the principle that government is for and by the people. Know that the opposition is an entrenched ruling class that will never give up power willingly.

How we fight this fight will teach the ones coming after us what to do, what principles are worth fighting for, how to win, and most importantly the RESPONSIBILITY OF THE GOVERNED.

Financial report: Since we published the last newsletter things have changed. At that time the liability of each tax payer was 1,026,375.00...Since last week the individual tax payer debt has risen to 1,026,969…That is an increase of 5940.00 per tax payer. (Everyone who thinks time is on our side raise your hand.)

Does anyone notice or know why there are never any America flags behind our President when he goes on TV with a message to the American citizens? That has been the tradition of all previous American presidents. I may be overly sensitive about this...however, I see this behavior of our President as his only consistent message to all of us...

Memo to : President of the United States
CC: Speaker of the House Mr. Boehner
CC: Speaker of the Senate Mr. Reid

Dear Mr. President, yall need to know there is no absolution for what's been done to the country and the people are coming…..

The End Game

The tall-tale-teller-of riddles-speaks in piece meal-to confound-to hide his mischief-to mislead-to confuse the dangerous road he follows-destroying the nation in his fury-its economy-it citizenship-its heart and soul-this commander-this chief of our nation….

“In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.” – Thomas Jefferson

So may citizens are dazed and confused by our Presidents incompetence, and are in full denial of his extreme ideology because it is so extreme in the context of American history they can't believe what he is doing and saying daily. Ruling is simply different from leading. Rulers amass power to themselves. Rulers decide who get what…Rulers take from others and use the power of the government to punish non-supporters.

Is this the end of our great American experiment or the end of his …..? Our liberal media lends credence to his 'carnie drum thumping'. Who hears? Who is still listening? The polls say many…The liberal press is not yet braying the evils of the Tea Party. Not this time or just not yet?

As we wring our hands and look for our future leaders, we must know politics is about power. Politicians are people who lust for power. How many generations have heard from elected officials, "I just want to do what is best for the country." Each and all in the current congress have said this enough times that most are still believers.

“You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.”— Ayn Rand

Obama used a saying in this morning's performance that the Republicans position on this insane debt ceiling is, "It their way or the highway." Let me suggest, from my side of this computer screen, "It’s the Tea Party's way or the highway to all of them." Hopefully we will replace them all and hopefully our children and grandchildren will forgive us for putting them there in the first place.

This insanity is viral and exists at all levels where there are elected folks.
( States, cities, counties, and of course the 'adult' folks in Washington.)

EXAMPLE at a state level:

California has become the first state in the nation to require public schools to add lessons about gay history to social studies classes, after Gov. Jerry Brown (D) signed the 'landmark' bill on Thursday. The Democratic-majority Legislature passed the bill last week on a largely party-line vote. (Note: It just so happens that the speaker of the house John Perez is a Hispanic gay man.) Yes, this is a landmark law.

Last week this same group passed a law requiring all hotels and motels to have fitted bottom sheets so that the unionize house cleaning workers would have less back problems. (Note: To do this runs in the millions at a time the State of California and most of the businesses can't make financial ends meet.)

Their group of elected officials in California are fiddling as California is quickly slipping into the Pacific Ocean.

Over two hundred years ago we created a government that in many ways looked much like the English Parliament governmental structure…and with similar ideas and ideals in mind…England's form of government has changed very little (but tweaked many times) since its formation hundreds of years before America was discovered…..This governmental form encouraged businesses, expanded its empire, gave lip service to the King/Queen and is more or less preserved today in the same form. Something happened and the empire began to contract. England was the most prosperous nation in its time but began to lose economic power. The operative phrase is "in it time".

Not only England but the other great nations in Europe also began a downward turn that is continuing as this article is being written. The question might be, "What do all these once mighty nation have in common?" Although these nations have different languages, different cultures, very different histories, the common binding thread is that all these nations evolved into a representative form of government whereby the people elected other people to represent their interests at their national governmental level. This structure of elected representation seemed to work just fine for some period of time. However, as times changed so did the underlying revolutionary idea of a government of and by the people through their representatives.

The industrial revolution was creating jobs, wealth, and a middle class of citizens that could be taxed…and taxed they were….With a goodly supply of money flowing into the various governments the 'representative of the people' realized how they could use this 'cash flow' to creative programs that effectively encouraged the voters to rely on government and thereby to become more and more dependent on them as their representative.. This worked…It is still working for elected officials in most if not all representative government. (The Roman Senate had devised this scheme of vote buying some fourteen hundred years earlier and it worked for them for a long time also.)

Here we sit in 2011 wondering how we got to where we are…which is in yet another economic mess, unplayable long term debt, (certainly can not be paid by our generation in our lifetime) Nine percent unemployed, (IF you believe the government's numbers) forty one million people on food stamps, medical and other social programs along with most pensions programs are running out of money. Sixty percent (60%) of our workers do not pay income taxes. To add yet more bad news on top of other bad news we have a congress and a president promising us they are going to create even more long term debt and social liabilities mounting into even more trillions of dollars.

Given the structure of our government the people have little or no say in what these elected folks do, say, or laws they pass. Example: Most citizens did not want Obamacare and the congress passed it into law. Is there any doubt in anyone's' mind the President and Congress will continue this behavior?

Way back when there was nonexistent communication and most of the population were uneducated you could make a case for the congressional leaders simply doing what they felt was 'best' without asking or informing any of the folks who elected them…. That was true for that time…Time has changed….We know it…Every elected officials knows this and yet we are behaving as if it was 1911.

This is also going on in Europe with a number of European countries that have crossed into unmanageable long term debt tied to social programs and retirement packages. For these countries the die is cast. Their future is written. Yet many people in these countries seem to not understand or they choose to misunderstand the forces they are facing. We can say, so what, that's Europe….Or we can take a closer look and say, isn't our government doing just what their governments did and are doing? Once a group of people in any nation allow their government to 'manage' their economy and create social programs that encourage people not to work "alea iacta est." (The river is crossed - Their future is written.)

In 1887 Alexander  Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinborough, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature;it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.A democracy will continue to exist up  until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury,with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loosefiscal policy,(which is)always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years.During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From  bondage to spiritual faith;
From  spiritual faith to great courage;
From  courage to liberty;
From  liberty to abundance;
From  abundance to complacency;
From  complacency to apathy;
From  apathy to dependence;
From  dependence back into  bondage."

Where do we see our nation and ourselves in these historical sequences?

We are finally becoming aware that we are faced with a failure to communicate a simple reality to our elected officials …. Our nation's power lies with the people and not the people in power…. When we forget this, they forget this…( i.e. We forgot - they forgot and here we are once again in a crisis created by them and the crisis can only be solved by us. What is going on in Washington now is both groups are noisily vying to see who can move the most chairs around the deck of the Titanic. I'm sure this would be a funny sight if we were not on the ship with them.

SS Liability--------------------------- 15,123,931,000
Prescription Drug Liability------- 20,010,124,000
Medicare Liability------------------ 79,575,912,000
Unfunded Liabilities---------------114,709,205,000
Liabilities Per tax payer----------- 1,026,375.00

We (meaning our government)borrows $188 million every hour. Our government (this does not include State governments) spends one-fifth of a billion dollars it doesn’t have every hour of every day of every week .

I was never really good at math but this seem like a really bad thing to do?

(Watch the debt clock each day to see how it changes. I am glad to see these debt clocks being installed on more and more campuses. )

I was really glad to see that Freedom Work has come out in support for Adam Hasner. He has a good conservative voting record. His speeches that I have heard sounds just like Rubio. (Makes you wonder what's going on in Florida to produce these young conservatives candidates.)

474 days, 19 hours, 44 minutes till the 2012 polls close….

Memo to : President of the United States

Rick Perry

I am sending this speech of Rick Perry's out from The Oxford Tea Party because I have seen Governor Perry speak about himself and government and have been impressed by him. Certainly it seems the way he is governing Texas is how most of us think the country should be governed. This speech speaks for itself.

Governor Rick Perry
Transcribed speech
Longview , Texas
May 23, 2011

In 1977, I had left the Air Force and moved home.  I’ll be real honest with you—I was a bit lost spiritually, and I really didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. So I moved in with my mother and father.  Now that’s a real trip!  I had been an aircraft commander, traveling all around the world, seeing amazing places that a boy from Paint Creek , Texas, had never even dreamed were out there before. I had this great epiphany during my mid twenties. As I had lived in Europe and South America and the Middle East , I saw all these different countries with different forms of government.  I was actually paying attention to the dictatorships, theocracies, monarchies, democratic states, etc.  I started making the connection between how those people lived and the form of government they had. It was most interesting for me, as I’d never really given that much attention to our form of government in America .  I’d taken for granted this extraordinary country we live in, but I came to realize that America is really a special place.  I also made the calculation that inside that really cool place was this incredible place called Texas!

At twenty-five, twenty-six years old, it dawned on me what an incredible country we live in, and that the vast majority of the people take it for granted. They abuse the privilege of living in a free country. They don't realize how so many other people live around the world. But with that knowledge, I went home and lived with my mom and dad. I moved back into my old room. At eighteen years old, I left to go to my beloved Texas A&M University .  Nine years later, I came back into my old room. I swear to God, I know mother cleaned it, but it looked exactly like it did the day I left.  It had my football number on the door, and it had the all-star football game program still stuck on the bulletin board. It was an eerie moment for me to move back home.  My dad was pretty sure I was the same stupid eighteen-year-old that had left. I was pretty sure he hadn’t gotten any smarter either. So we went through this really brutal period of time of finding our comfort zone. But God was dealing with me. At twenty-seven years old, I knew that I’d been called to the ministry. I’ve just always been really stunned by how big a pulpit I was gonna have! I still am. I truly believe with all my heart that God has put me in this place at this time to do His will.

On Aug the 6th of this year, 2011, we are going to have a day of prayer and fasting. And it’s going to be the real deal. It’s not going to be some program where we line up a dozen political figures to come in and talk. It’s going to be people standing on that stage, projecting and proclaiming Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior at Reliant Stadium in Houston , Texas . Let me tell you, that’s a big stadium and there will be a lot of people. But it’s going to send a powerful message across this country!  Our country’s broke. Well, actually, Washington’s broke; our country’s going to be just fine. But we’ve got to have men and women who are willing to stand up to proclaim the values that this country was based upon.

In 1774, at the Continental Congress when they got together and penned that first document, they talked about “life” and “liberty.”  Interestingly, the third thing they talked about was “property.” A couple of years later, when they actually wrote the Declaration, they changed that “property” to “the pursuit of happiness.” I just signed a piece of legislation today, the immanent domain legislation.  I tell people, that “personal property” and the ownership of that personal property is crucial to our way of life.  Our founding fathers understood that it was a very important part of the pursuit of happiness. Being able to own things that are your own is one of the things that makes America unique. But I happen to think that it’s in jeopardy. It’s in jeopardy because of taxes; it’s in jeopardy because of regulation; it’s in jeopardy because of a legal system that’s run amuck. And I think it’s time for us to just hand it over to God and say, “God, You’re going to have to fix this.” (I think it was Herman Cain who stood up the other day and said, “How’s that “Hope and Change” thing working out for you?”) I think it’s time for us to use our wisdom and our influence and really put it in God’s hands. That’s what I’m going to do, and I hope you’ll join me. I hope you’ll join us in Houston on the 6th day of August and really start a revival across this country.

Here’s what I want to leave you with. I know from time to time, people will say something like, “There goes Perry. He wants to secede.” But I love this country. We’re a special place. We were created by God-fearing individuals who understood those biblical values and how powerful they could be and would be in the future. And I suggest that for our country, our best days are ahead if we’ll get on our knees and ask God to take over and give us wisdom. I may wear the Lord out every day in prayer. I pray for this country. I pray for restoration for this country. I pray for our president every day. I pray that God turns buckets of wisdom out on his head, that God will open his eyes. We can change this country, but it requires our giving it to Him and letting Him guide us.

At this point Governor Perry has not committed to run for president. If you like what he is saying search for some of his other speeches. Also, note that under his watch Texas is prospering. This is about the only state that is prospering, creating jobs, and not raising taxes….IF you like what you see in your searches drop him an e-mail. Encourage him to run…

Obama will not be easy to unseat. I have many doubts about the group of declared candidates we have so far….

Happy 4th?

Just to say HI on this most important day…I have decided to send you a LINK to "The Daily Caller"… This is a article/series of videos of a interviews with Daniel Hanna who I suspect many do not know nor have even heard of……The interviews were done by Ginni Thomas who I often read….

In trying to think of something that might be either interesting or worth saying on this special day I happened on this article. For us, on this day, I can't think of anything more directly related to the enormous struggle the Tea Party and its members have taken on…Mr. Hanna is a cheerleader and rings the bell loudly of the dangers this nation is facing….

When you click on this site it will take a while for the videos to fully load… Notice the bottom of the page and it will keep saying 'done' but still has more to download…. I think you will enjoy this….
